With ESPN airing the 10-part docu-series The Last Dance, chronicling the final season of Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls' quest for two three-peats and six championships in eight years, Oklahoma City Thunder star point guard Chris Paul decided to share another story of Jordan's infamous competitive spirit.

Paul, 34, once challenged Jordan to a game of “around the world” in order to acquire free Jordan sneakers. It didn't go well for the then-high-schooler.

Per Paul talking to Sage Steele on Instagram, via Bleacher Report:

Steele: “Well I did hear or I did see the video, I think it was a while back when you, what was it? You were at a school.”
Paul: “We were in Santa Barbara and he damn made them shots and they just said to hell with the kids, man. So forget him man. He wrong for that.”
Steele: “You should have known better than to challenge him. Right?”
Paul: “I should have, right.”

Paul's pre-Thunder story shares a striking resemblance to one shared by WNBA star Diana Taurasi, who told friends Sue Bird and Megan Rapinoe the time she loss a chance at free Jordans by missing the last free throw in a game of “around the world,” to which Jordan replied “Nice try,” and didn't give her the sneakers.

Jordan's competitiveness has been on full display in The Last Dance, which has shown a behind-the-scenes look at his relationship with the team, coach and teammates in Jordan's quest to win a sixth ring.
