Chris Paul, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and the rest of the Oklahoma City Thunder can't wait to get their season going again. They're pretty hyped by the fact that they're slated to match up against the Utah Jazz in their opener. This especially considering how their game was cancelled back on March 11 shortly after tip-off.

For Gilgeous-Alexander, the young guard could not help but relive the build up to that infamous contest. Moments prior to tip off, that game — and the season — came to a complete halt following the pandemic-caused suspension.

“I remember being so ready to go,” Gilgeous-Alexander said, via Sarah Todd of DeseretNews. “Fired up, completely warmed up.”

Oklahoma City are scheduled to face off against Utah on Saturday, in what will be their first out of eight seeding games. As for the Jazz, they are coming off a hard-fought opening night 106-104 victory against the New Orleans Pelicans.

Chris Paul sees the irony in being pitted against the Jazz again four months after their cancelled game.

“It’s a hell of a coincidence that’s who our first game is against,” Paul said.

The veteran All-Star also commented about the type of attitude he expects to come out with once the contest begins.

“Will we go out on the floor and hug it out and all that? I doubt it,” Paul said. “I talk to Donovan Mitchell pretty often, but once you get out there on the court, it’s time to hoop.”

So much has happened throughout the hiatus, and Paul in particular has been very active as the NBPA president in terms of promoting the fight against social injustice among the players. However, as he said above, it's now time to play some ball.
