Corey Brewer's landing with the Oklahoma City Thunder couldn't have been a more perfect fit.

A defensive-minded forward with a spark-plug mentality was a definite sticker for a team that was lacking the defensive intensity previously provided by Andre Roberson, who was ruled out for the rest of the season.

Yet despite his Florida ties with head coach Billy Donovan, Brewer claimed their relationship hasn't changed much at all since winning back-to-back titles in 2006 and 2007.

“Yeah, we definitely kept in touch. For sure,” Brewer told Alex Kennedy of HoopsHype of his relationship with Donovan. “When you win multiple championships, you’re definitely going to keep in touch!”

Asked if anything in their dynamic had change since playing 11 years in the league, Brewer noted it's been just like old times.

“It’s great, man. He hasn’t changed,” said Brewer. “He still gets on me in film sessions, just like I’m an 18-year-old kid again (laughs).”

The Thunder have won both games since moving Brewer to the starting shooting guard spot and are now in sixth place, within a hair of the Minnesota Timberwolves and the New Orleans Pelicans, hoping to climb to the top of a very competitive Western Conference playoff picture.

Donovan and Brewer's history certainly plays a big role in their dynamic on the court, hence the trust to insert him into the lineup barely two games into his stint with the team.

Both player and coach, will need to spread that mojo within the rest of the team in hopes to nab the best possible spot in this year's postseason.
