Free agent Corey Brewer has committed to sign with the Oklahoma City Thunder after speaking to general manager Sam Presti and his former coach Billy Donovan, according to Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports.

Brewer was waived by the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday and had reportedly lined up a team to land with, but also spoke with three Eastern Conference GMs prior to making his decision.

The Thunder were thin on their defensive ranks after the loss of Andre Roberson, making this a no-brainer signing, reuniting the former Florida Gator, who won two NCAA championships under coach Donovan.

Brewer has only managed 3.7 points and 1.7 rebounds in a whisker under 13 minutes per game with the Lakers, but he's bound to bolster the Thunder's defense and provide transition opportunities for a team that likes to run the fast break often.

The Tennessee native has enjoyed the greatest of glories along with Joakim Noah and Al Horford, who all declared for the NBA Draft in the same year and landed a roster spot with a team.

Very familiar with his coach's tendencies despite 11 years having gone by since Florida's second of back-to-back championships, Brewer should be a plug-and-play acquisition as a very alert weak side defender and tenacious on the perimeter, much like Roberson was for this team.

If given ample playing time during stretches, Brewer is capable of making a difference for this roster, whether it is on the final stretch of the regular season or during the playoffs.
