For Oklahoma City Thunder veteran point guard Raymond Felton, his time with the L.A. Clippers was a brief one that lasted only a full season in 2016-17.

Regardless, according to an interview with Thunder beat writer Fred Katz of the Norman Transcript, Clippers head coach Doc Rivers said that he developed a very quality relationship with Felton during that time.

“Forget his basketball, I just liked him as a guy,” Rivers said of his former player. “He's just a solid player. So, when you put all that together – Raymond's had a long career, and he's been through a lot of stuff in his career. I think that makes him better. I think that makes him more suited when he talks in the locker room. He probably is coming from a place of experience. I really, really liked him.”

When asked if Felton hung around any of the younger guys while on the Clippers, coach Rivers had quite a funny response and also praised the 33-year-old guard for his constant professionalism.

“No, he hung around with me. I was the youngest guy,” coach Rivers joked. “Yeah, he was great. It was Austin [Rivers] and whoever else, the young guards. He was the pied piper, for sure. I thought he was very important for all those guys and really good when they were struggling. I think he's really good in the locker room and the young guys. Just keep telling them, ‘It's a long career. There will be ups and downs and just get ready for the next game.' And he's a pro. He practices everyday. He's just a professional.”

Felton and the Thunder (42-29) had the upper hand on Rivers' Clippers just recently with a 121-116 victory, which was Oklahoma City's fifth consecutive win.

The Thunder face a very difficult challenge on Sunday when they travel to take on the Eastern Conference's top seed in the Toronto Raptors.
