Oklahoma City Thunder general manager Sam Presti says All-Star small forward Paul George (shoulder) is “going to make a full recovery.”

George underwent surgery to his right rotator cuff and left labrum after the Thunder's season ended. The swingman is expected to miss the entire 2019-20 preseason.

Paul George has undergone two shoulder surgeries since the end of the season. Thunder general manager Sam Presti said Friday morning the Thunder will have a better feel for George’s status closer to training camp in late September.

“He’s doing well,” Presti said. “He’s going to make a full recovery.”

George was clearly not 100 percent toward the end of the season and in the 2019 playoffs. It's good that PG13 got the surgery done so he can be 100 percent for the 2019-20 season.

George is a finalist for the 2019 MVP award. He averaged 28.0 points, 8.2 rebounds and 4.1 assists this past season while shooting 43.8 percent from the field, 38.6 percent from beyond the arc and 83.9 percent from the free-throw line. The Thunder won 49 games during the regular season and were the sixth seed in the Western Conference. OKC lost to Damian Lillard and the Portland Trail Blazers in the first round of the playoffs in five games.

The long-term health of George is very important for the Thunder. George signed a four-year, $136.9 million maximum contract with OKC in the summer of 2018. The 29-year-old will make $33,005,556 next season.
