Oklahoma City Thunder play by play announcer Brian Davis has found himself in a bit of hot water after his comments describing Russell Westbrook during Thursday night's broadcast.

With the second quarter winding down Westbrook made a nice pass for a wide-open three-pointer. Davis then said Westbrook was “out of his cotton pickin' mind.”

The Oklahoma City Thunder quickly made a statement on the matter as they said the phrase was “offensive and inappropriate.”

“We think obviously the use of that term was offensive and inappropriate, and I expressed that to Brian last night,” Thunder Vice President of Broadcasting Dan Mahoney told The Transcript.  “Brian assures me that it was not meant in any derogatory way, and he apologizes. But again, we feel strongly that it’s inappropriate and offensive.”

For Davis, it's unclear if this is something he will clear up on a later broadcast or if he will be punished by the Thunder organization.

The next time the Thunder will be on the air will be on Saturday when they open up their playoff series against the Utah Jazz.
