The Oklahoma City Thunder have announced that the team has officially signed veteran small forward Markieff Morris.

Morris began this season with the Washington Wizards. However, Washington traded him to the New Orleans Pelicans at the trade deadline before New Orleans waived him.

The swingman drew interest from multiple teams, but he chose the Thunder since OKC is one of the best teams in the NBA.

With the Wizards, Markieff Morris averaged 11.5 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game while shooting 43.6 percent from the floor, 33.3 percent from the 3-point line and 78.1 percent from the charity stripe. He becomes an unrestricted free agent in the summer.

Morris has career NBA averages of 11.8 points per game in 555 games with the Phoenix Suns and Wizards. He's a player who can score in bunches and has playoff experience.

The Thunder are 37-20 on the season, good for third place in the Western Conference standings. Andre Roberson hasn't played at all this season for OKC and the franchise waived Alex Abrines before the All-Star break. Adding Markieff gives the Thunder more small forward depth behind superstar Paul George.

OKC opens up the second half of the season on Friday against the Utah Jazz at home. Morris should be available to play, as he's been cleared to resume basketball activities after meeting with a neck specialist in Los Angeles.
