Oklahoma City Thunder forward Paul George will miss Friday night's matchup against the Phoenix Suns along with teammate Alex Abrines, according to Erik Horne of The Oklahoman.

George, who is nursing a right quad contusion, and Abrines (stomach illness) both missed shootaround earlier in the day, per head coach Billy Donovan, leaving the team without two of their best shooters against a Suns team that has won four of their last six games after finding themselves in the NBA's cellar in mid-December.

The Thunder will miss George as their top scorer, but also as their best perimeter defender, as the Suns' Devin Booker has scored 25 or more points in his last six games since returning from a hamstring injury that kept him out for six games.

OKC has lost two in a row, but still remains only a half game away from the top spot in the Western Conference, as teams play musical chairs in the standings with a very narrow margin for error.

Russell Westbrook is expected to carry the bulk of the action without two of the team's key shooters, with Steven Adams also expected to chip in to help with the offensive load.

Westbrook has struggled with his shot, but will have to trust it on Friday night, given he's due for more than 20 field goal attempts without his main co-star around.
