After seven seasons with the Indiana Pacers, Paul George was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder. With George informing the Pacers he would not re-sign in 2018 free agency, the Thunder took a chance as he reportedly wants to play for the Los Angeles Lakers.

With George teaming up with Russell Westbrook, the hope is they become one of the league's best duos and ultimately re-sign with Oklahoma City. As Westbrook is the league's reigning Most Valuable Player, George is ā€˜going for' the greatest individual award according to NBA TV:

While George is one of the best players in the league, the odds are not in his favor. According to Bovada, Kawhi Leonard, LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Westbrook, Giannis Antetokounmpo, James Harden, Stephen Curry, Kyrie Irving, and Anthony Davis all have better odds to win the ward.

Heading into the 2017-18 NBA season, the Thunder are expected to have a full season to persuade the four-time All-Star to re-sign. If it seems unlikely around the trade deadline, general manager Sam Presti has shown in the past he is willing to move players instead of losing them for nothing in free agency.

The Thunder take on the New York Knicks in their season opener.
