Russell Westbrook's birthday didn't go unacknowledged by new teammate Paul George, as the 6-foot-9 swingman had a peculiar surprise of his own when facing the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday night.

The reigning MVP turned 29 years old on Sunday, and received perhaps one of the most thoughtful gifts amid the absence of Carmelo Anthony with a sore lower back.

“I got him 37,” said George following the game.

George was on fire, making 12 of his 22 field goals and 7-of-12 from deep to follow the 42-point assault on the L.A. Clippers on Friday night. The Palmdale native has stepped up his game in a major way after the Thunder dropped four games in a row to start the month, giving them a much-needed shot of intensity at both sides of the ball.

After the two stellar outings, George is now averaging 22.5 points per game to lead the team, along with a league-leading 2.54 steals per game.

It might not be a Rolex watch or a night out with the crew, but knowing Westbrook, a pair of wins to climb out of a four-game skid is the best gift a hugely competitive player like him could wish for, to do so dropping 79 points in two games is just icing on the proverbial cake.
