There were a lot of rumors after last season about LeBron James and Paul George trying to team up, either after last season with the Cleveland Cavaliers making a trade to get George from the Indiana Pacers, or after this season when LeBron and Paul are unrestricted free agents.

But according to Ramona Shelburne of ESPN, the conversations were actually about more than just basketball.

Paul George on his conversations with LeBron James last summer, “It was more so just about hanging, talking, communicating, talking about working out. It wasn't much about partnering up. It was more so just about building a bond, building a brotherhood. So, there was just opportunity to get together and hang. We got lunch, drinks. IT was kinda just a low-key get together…We know each other. But it was more so just, I didn't have nothing to do that day. He didn't have nothing to do that day. It was just a get together.”

Now there is still a chance that these two could team up this summer and if they did, it would probably be with the Los Angeles Lakers, but for right now both players seem pretty content on their own team.

LeBron James, Paul George

A lot of people believed earlier this season that Paul George to the Lakers was all but a done deal, but after his comments a couple of weeks ago, that doesn't seem like such a sure thing anymore.

Before a game in January, George told ESPN:

“This summer will be huge. I've got a lot to think about. If we're trending, if we're going in the right direction, if I feel there is something that we're building, and there's a foundation — it would be kind of clueless, just stupid on my behalf to up and leave.

The Thunder seem to be building something in the right direction, so maybe he won't be going anywhere after all. However, the speculation will naturally continue.
