Just this week, news broke out that Paul George’s Oklahoma City Thunder teammate, Andre Roberson, would miss up to two months of action after undergoing surgery on his left knee due to a hiccup in his rehabilitation.

The former University of Colorado standout, who was drafted with the 26th overall pick in 2013, has blossomed into one of the best perimeter defenders today and is a vital cog in the team’s rotation. He was normally assigned to guard the opposing team’s best player and knock down the occasional three-ball.

Despite only averaging 4.6 points and 4.0 rebounds throughout his five-year career, what he brings goes well beyond the stat sheet. George, who just recently signed an extension to remain with the Thunder, understands Roberson’s value and recently had out some words of encouragement for his injured brother.

According to Erik Horne, a beat writer for the team, this is what he had to say:

Andre Roberson’s long-term health is most definitely the number one priority and he should take all the time he needs to fully recover.

While on the sidelines, the Thunder will probably lean more on George, while new recruits Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot and Dennis Schroder, as well as uber-athletic Terrance Ferguson, will also soak up more minutes. While we hate to see a player go down like this, hopefully, challenges like this help the team form a stronger bond with one another. After all, it’s in these instances that people’s worth really shines through.

Now that the upcoming season is only a few days away, we send our prayers out to Dre and hope that he gets back on the court sooner rather than later.
