Paul George and Russell Westbrook have something special cooking in Oklahoma City. The two stars have the Thunder at 16-7 and in second place in the Western Conference. George could have left OKC in free agency over the summer, but he chose to stay with Westbrook. George says that Westbrook made him feel comfortable on the Thunder:

“Him opening the city up, opening the team up, he just made me comfortable,” Paul George said to Chris Mannix of The Crossover. “On the court, he just made the game easy. I played in Indiana, where the last couple years, I was in his position, where he was, trying to make plays for everybody. When I got here, the game was way easier. I just connected with him. The bond was formed immediately. We respect each other. I love everything that he brings on and off the court.”

This flies in the face of the narrative that Westbrook is not a good teammate or he's not fun to play with. George looked comfortable alongside Westbrook in the Thunder's 114-112 come-from-behind victory over the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday. The swingman went off for 47 points, and he played a crucial role in a 20-point fourth-quarter comeback.

Westbrook had 21 points, 15 rebounds, and 17 assists on the night. The fans who cry “stat chaser” at Westbrook will be livid. The Thunder are starting to find their groove after year one of the Paul George-Russell Westbrook experiment ended in a first-round flameout.
