With the eloquence of an angry sailor, Oklahoma City Thunder guard Russell Westbrook let reporters know just how frustrated he was with the officiating of Sunday’s game between his team and the Portland Trail Blazers.

Speaking to reporters following their 103-99 loss to Portland, Westbrook zeroed in on the referees, accusing them of being one-sided to the disadvantage of the Thunder. Westbrook noted that he was hit in the face during one play but the referees didn’t feel the need to go to the tapes to see if a flagrant foul was needed to be called, per Fed Katz of The Norman Transcript.

“They don’t referee the same way all the time. They pick and choose when they want to do it [reviewing a foul] which isn’t fair in my opinion. I’ve been in this league for a while, and I’m able to see and understand what’s right and what’s wrong but I can see is blatant sh-t that’s not getting looked at in my opinion. You get hit, you need to take a look at it.”

Westbrook’s agitation was mainly fueled by the controversial flagrant foul 2 call on teammate Carmelo Anthony, who was immediately taken out of the contest for good after inadvertently hitting Blazers big man Jusuf Nurkic’s face in the third quarter of the matchup.

With Anthony out for the remainder of the game, the Thunder battled Portland minus one key weapon not to mention that Anthony’s ejection partly changed the complexion of the game towards the Blazers’ favor.

Westbrook and the Thunder can’t spend too much time harping on what they believe is unfair officiating as they have a game against the Sacramento Kings to prepare for this coming Tuesday.
