Following his first MVP-award winning season, Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook is putting together yet another highly productive campaign.

He has been putting up elite all-around numbers this season and has been on a hot offensive stretch over the last few weeks matching Cleveland Cavaliers All-Star forward Kevin Love with 13 straight 20-point double-double outings for the longest mark since 2014. The 29-year-old currently leads the NBA while being seventh in scoring., and third in steals.

Heading into Saturday's game against the Charlotte Hornets, Westbrook was averaging 25.1 points, 10.0 assists, 9.6 rebounds and 2.05 steals in 36.1 minutes per contest. He has posted 31 double-doubles this season including 14 triple-doubles, which is the best mark in the league.

Westbrook has also scored in double figures all but just once this season and has 35 games with 20 or more points. He has been able to accomplish the additions of All-Star forwards Paul George and Carmelo Anthony, who each have been major offensive factors this season.

He is coming off a stellar month of December where he averaged a triple-double of 27.8 points, 10.2 rebounds and 10.6 assists and was named Western Conference Player of the Month for the eighth time in his career. Westbrook has been on a similar pace this month averaging 27.0 points with 10.2 assists, and 9.4 rebounds per contest in six games played.

If the Thunder are able to make a serious push up the standings over the second half of the season, it could see Westbrook get serious consideration to win a second straight MVP award. At this point, Oklahoma City has struggled to find any consistency holding a 23-20 record through the first 43 games and have split their last 10 games.

With that said, Westbrook could be the ultimate determinant to how far the Thunder can go this season in the playoffs as their driving offensive force. This places a huge importance on their Big 3 figuring out how to play with each other efficiently if there is any hope of contending for an NBA title.
