Russell Westbrook passes Jason Kidd on all time triple-doubles list

Thunder

The Oklahoma City Thunder came back and defeated the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday, and Thunder superstar point guard Russell Westbrook made some history in the win.

Westbrook registered a triple-double, posting 21 points, 15 rebounds and 17 assists. With the triple-double, Russell Westbrook now has 108 in his career, passing NBA Hall of Famer Jason Kidd for third most in NBA history.

During his MVP season in 2016-17, Russell Westbrook became the first player since the legendary Oscar Robertson to average a triple-double for an entire season. It’s a feat no one thought could be done. Westbrook did it again last season, showing he truly is from another planet.

The Thunder are now 16-7 on the season. This was Russell Westbrook’s fourth triple-double of the season and definitely won’t be his last. Oscar Robertson has the most triple-doubles in NBA history at 181, followed by Magic Johnson, who compiled 138.

Of course, the stat padder name calling will come out as it always does when Russell Westbrook records a triple-double. Critics believe Westbrook steals rebounds from teammates and hunts for assists just to get triple-doubles. The naysayers will always be there for Russ, but he doesn’t care. The explosive Thunder guard knows how important he is to his team and that no one in the league does what he does on a nightly basis.
