Oklahoma City Thunder’s Russell Westbrook had a staredown battle with the Philadelphia 76ersJoel Embiid Sunday night. But it was Westbrook who won the staring contest as his team won the game 122-112 with the incumbent MVP looking straight in the eyes of Embiid while dribbling out the clock.

Russell Westbrook had that killer look toward Philly's bench where Joel Embiid was as he just could not let the Sixers’ big man get away with disrespecting him earlier in the game.

Embiid has been one of the most colorful players in the NBA in recent years, talking trash and intimidating anyone and everyone. During the first quarter of the game between the two teams Sunday, Embiid took a pass and thunder slammed the rock on top of Westbrook who fell to the floor as a result.

In typical Embiid fashion, he stared Westbrook down before running back on defense.

But Embiid should have considered who he was trying to humiliate as Westbrook does not take kindly to this kind of intimidation. With the game out of reach, Russ simply had to have his moment, “killing” Embiid softly with his dagger-like stare.

Embiid finished the game with 27 points, 10 rebounds, and two blocks, making 3-out-of-four three-point attempts.

Westbrook, on the other hand, had a near triple-double with 37 points, 9 rebounds, 14 assists, and two steals with only one turnover.

Embiid and Westbrook will meet each other again at the 2018 All-Star Game this February.

Embiid will be playing for Team Steph while Westbrook will be on Team LeBron.

The fireworks between the two may have just begun.
