Which style of shoe an NBA player chooses to wear in-game is not only for flare, it's also for performance. Different playing techniques call for different choices. Some like light, low-top kicks. Others prefer a more rigid mid or high-top sneaker. When it comes to Oklahoma City All-Star Russell Westbrook, it sounds like he has his eyes on a particular variation of Paul George's signature shoe: Nike's PG1.

As it turns out, Westbrook is not the only NBA player who favors George's kicks. In fact, the Nike PG1 was the most-worn signature shoe in the 2017-18 season. 42 players said they favored the shoe more than any other. Other signature shoes that were worn by players include Nike's Kyrie 3 & 4 (Kyrie Irving), Adidas' Dame 4 (Damian Lillard), Nike's KD 10 (Kevin Durant). LeBron James (Nike Soldier 11) and Stephen Curry (Under Armour Curry 4) round out the bottom of the list.

The PG1 was designed by Tony Hardman and debuted in 2017 as George's first signature Basketball sneaker with Nike. The kicks are a solid option for most players, as they're both light and stable. Features include a low-cut design, forefoot strap, Dynamic Flywire, a full bootie upper, and Zoom Air in the heel.

“I love the tightness and the feeling of being locked down,” George said via Nike.com,” It's a snug fit as soon as you put the shoe on, and the forefront strap is another element of locking you in.”

According to a report from Nike.com, the shoe’s traction pattern, which resembles fish scales, reflects George’s love for fishing — a pastime he shares with his father, Paul George Sr.

As most hoops fans know, Westbrook already has a signature shoe of his own with Nike, though it sounds like he's ready to add to his collection.
