After his historic year last season, Russell Westbrook still continued with his record-breaking ways during the Oklahoma City Thunder's season opener against the New York Knicks on Thursday.

The reigning MVP notched his first triple-double of the season, and proved that he can co-exist on the court together with Carmelo Anthony and Paul George. To make it even more special, Russell Westbrook recorded the most assists in a season-opening triple-double in league history.

The Thunder superstar looked to be in very good shape and pretty in sync with his new teammates, finishing the game with 21 points, 10 rebounds, 16 assists, and one blocked shot in 33 minutes of action. More importantly, the Oklahoma City Thunder are off to terrific start for the 2017-18 season, as they booked their first win in convincing fashion, 105-84.

With the addition of Anthony and George, many wondered if Russell Westbrook can still produce numbers similar to last year. Now that he has recorded a triple-double in their first regular season game together, he has silenced his critics and showed everyone that his feat from last campaign wasn't a product of stat-padding. With more talented players surrounding him, Westbrook and his team have a stronger chance of contending for a title, especially if he carries on with his impressive showing on opening night.
