Oklahoma City Thunder general manager Sam Presti has reason to believe that guard Dennis Schroder's pending legal situation won't be a distraction for long, according to Royce Young of ESPN.

The former Atlanta Hawks guard was charged with misdemeanor battery last September following a fight outside of a restaurant in DeKalb County. A video from the scene led to the charges against Schroder. The video reportedly showed a group of people involved in an argument.

Police said Schroder and three others were attempting to leave the scene when two police officers showed up and stopped them near a parking lot entrance.

The Thunder acquired Schroder from the Hawks in a move that unloaded Carmelo Anthony after his disappointing lone season in Oklahoma City. Schroder looks to be a scoring spark off the bench behind Westbrook, and the German guard may actually begin the season as a starter due to the 2017 MVP's knee surgery.

Schroder had his most prolific season last year, putting up 19.4 points, 6.2 assists and 3.1 rebounds per game. However, the 25-year-old shot just 43.6 percent from the field and 29.0 percent on 3-pointers. He also struggled on the defensive end as Atlanta finished with one of the worst records in the league. Oklahoma City is hoping the young guard will embrace his role and help them make a deep run in the Western Conference.
