The Oklahoma City Thunder will be fielding a team led by Chris Paul next season, as long as there's no surprise trade in the coming months. The Thunder are not expected to contend for a championship, but they have what it takes to be competitive. General manager Sam Presti said he's excited to see what they can do, and he feels honored that another future Hall of Famer will be donning the Thunder uniform:

CP3 spent the past two seasons with the Houston Rockets playing alongside James Harden. They were dubbed as the best team that could take down the Golden State Warriors, and they had multiple chances to do just that. Unfortunately, they weren't able to beat the Dubs in the playoffs, and losing back-to-back years to Golden State in the postseason reportedly helped create a rift between Harden and Paul.

Then, news broke a couple of weeks ago that the Rockets decided to trade CP3 and draft picks to the Thunder for Russell Westbrook. It was initially believed that Paul wouldn't last in OKC, as both sides were exploring several options to part ways. However, with Paul having three years left on his massive contract, it's difficult for the franchise to make a trade or agree to a buyout.

So, it looks like Paul will be on the Thunder to start next season, which he reportedly is okay with. They have a competitive team around him, especially with Steven Adams and Danilo Gallinari on the roster as well. Barring any injuries, OKC is good enough to at least contend for a playoff spot.
