Oklahoma City Thunder rising star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander knows what he wants to accomplish in his NBA career, and he's not settling for anything less.

In an interview with GQ, SGA opened up about his three-year career so far after being drafted 11th overall by the Los Angeles Clippers in 2018 to being traded to the Thunder and eventually signing a massive five-year, $172 million extension this offseason. For the 23-year-old, though, he's no longer looking at everything that happened and is now focusing on what he can do to become one of the greatest players to ever grace the NBA hardwood.

“Ever since then, I never looked back. I want to be one of the best point guards to ever play,” Gilgeous-Alexander said. “I’m not playing this game just to be a good basketball player. I want to be one of the greatest to ever play.”

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's remarks will certainly bring a smile to every Thunder fan. After all, as the face of the franchise, Oklahoma fans have high hopes that he can bring the team back to relevance after the departure of their own superstars.

SGA has a chance to be one of the superstars of the NBA today, and there's no doubt he has the tools to fulfill his mission of being one of the best to ever play the game. Had it not been for his foot injury last season, he wouldn't have been as overlooked as he is today when discussing the best young players in the league.

For now, though, the Canadian youngster knows he needs to focus on his health and get back to 100 percent for the 2021-22 season to show everyone what he can do. The Thunder are in a rebuilding mode, which is the perfect opportunity for Shai to prove he can lead his team to wins.
