Barely 10 games into the season and the Oklahoma City Thunder are finding themselves hanging on to the number eight spot in the West after a narrow victory against the Pelicans. Monday night's win extended their winning streak to five games, after dropping their first four games of the season.

Monday night's victory came at a cost, though. The Thunder’s leader and former MVP, Russell Westbrook exited the game during the third quarter. He landed on Pelicans star Anthony Davis’ foot and twisted his ankle. Westbrook was obviously in a lot of pain, as he screamed and hit the hardwood after he went down just beneath the Pelicans’ basket. He limped off the floor, as he was unable to put any weight on his left leg.

After the game, the Thunder center Steven Adams was asked about his thoughts regarding the injury to their star. He was quoted saying:

Adams expressed his frustration about Westbrook’s injury, saying regardless of whether the Thunder were on a winning streak or not, just seeing a teammate go down like that is woeful.

As of 11:00 PM ET on Monday, the x-ray on Westbrook’s ankle are negative. There is no word yet as to whether or not he will play against the Cavaliers, as they travel to Cleveland on Wednesday
