Steven Adams says he hates Rudy Gobert despite anime love

Apparently, Jazz center Rudy Gobert is not the only fan of the popular anime 'One Piece' as Thunder center Steven Adams was notably impressed with his taste.

It has become commonplace for NBA players to wear shoes inspired by their favorite entities in pop culture. One of the most notable pairs of kicks from this year was courtesy of Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert after he featured a design of “Luffy,” who is the main protagonist of the manga “One Piece.”

Apparently, Gobert is not the only fan of the popular anime. According to Fred Katz of the Norman Transcript, Oklahoma City Thunder center Steven Adams was notably impressed with his taste before expressing his current disdain for Gobert.

Although his comments were made in good fun, there still may be plenty of truth to them at the moment. The Thunder kicked off the series with a 116-108 victory before the Jazz responded by stealing homecourt advantage with a 102-95 victory on Wednesday night. Both Gobert and Adams have enjoyed solid performances in the series thus far.
Adams is known as one of the most scrappy, underrated big men in the NBA. However, his job is made much more difficult by the presence of Gobert. The “Stifle Tower” has been extremely efficient on both ends of the floor after going 9-of-13 from the field through the first two games. He has also managed to tack on 22 rebounds and five blocks during that span.
That said, Adams may have to put his “One Piece” marathon with Gobert on hold for after this series.
