Oklahoma City Thunder center Steven Adams provided some humorous insight to the recent Kevin Durant-Kendrick Perkins Twitter rumble on Thursday.

Adams joked that both players are “bored”–since Durant is injured and Perkins is retired–while concluding his statement with a strange pivot to American politics (via Darryn Albert of Larry Brown Sports):

“Ah you know how it is, mate,” said Adams, per Erik Horne of The Athletic. “They’re both a bit bored, aye? They’re not doing much so they’re probably just bored, mate. But it’s entertaining for you guys I bet, yeah?! You guys getting a little kick out of it? “I wouldn’t say [it’s] interesting,” Adams went on. “It’s just some bickering. What’s interesting is the political stuff. American politics. That’s interesting. Not just two players bickering. C’mon.”

Perkins sparked a war of Twitter fingers during Russell Westbrook's return to the Oklahoma City on Thursday, suggesting Westbrook was the best player in Thunder history and also pointing out Durant lost in the second round of the playoffs (the 2013 Western Conference semifinals) without Westbrook. Durant fired back by stating Perkins averaged two points and three rebounds during the series in question.

Adams played with both Perkins and Durant, entering the league as a rookie prior to the 2013-14 season. He eventually supplanted Perkins as the starting center in OKC, where he remains a frontcourt staple. The statement is befitting of the 26-year-old, who has garnered a reputation as one of the toughest players in the NBA.

Adams is averaging 12.0 points and 10.2 rebounds for a Thunder team that find themselves in contention.
