Oklahoma City Thunder general manager Sam Presti has given us a bit of a preview of how the future is looking for 21-year-old shooting guard Terrance Ferguson. According to the team executive, Ferguson will not be participating in the upcoming Summer League:

Ferguson will be entering his third year in the league next season, and while his numbers in his sophomore campaign last year were not exactly eye-popping (6.9 points, 1.9 rebounds, 1.0 assists, and 0.5 steals in 26.1 minutes per ballgame), he has still been able to keep a firm grip on the starting 2-guard spot.

Ferguson is not exactly a numbers type of guy. After all, the Thunder already have Russell Westbrook, Paul George, and Steven Adams, so stats are definitely not in short supply for the team. What Ferguson brings to the table is his energy, hustle and a bit of 3-point shooting. This is perhaps the most important aspect he is able to contribute, and is likely why he has been able to keep the likes of All-Star Slam Dunk champion Hamidou Diallo behind him in the pecking order.

Ferguson still has two years remaining on his deal, but it is worth noting that Oklahoma City holds a team option on his contract for the 2020-21 season. This effectively means that the former 21st overall pick will be playing for his future this coming season.
