Despite only being two-thirds of the way into his free agency special with ESPN, all signs are pointing towards Paul George remaining with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

ESPN's Brian Windhorst noted during the Rich Eisen Show that recent events all pointed toward him staying put alongside co-star Russell Westbrook.

“I have to qualify everything, Rich, I have to excuse this because things in the NBA change very quickly and when you make definitive statements it opens the window for you making an ass out of your self, but all signs are pointing to Paul George remaining in L.A., and,” said Windhorst before being cut off by the host.

Eisen: “Remaining in L.A., or…”

“I'm sorry, Oklahoma City, and I'm, looking forward to his explanation as to why…”

Sure, George opted out of the last year of his deal, but it is what's happened outside of his control that is leading to these suspicions.

The Lakers have been working potential trade lines with the San Antonio Spurs for swingman Kawhi Leonard in fear that George would stay with the team — that fear stems from something, and it's likely the Lakers have smelled the bond he's formed with co-star Russell Westbrook in the lone season they've played together.

The Thunder took a big gamble by trading for him with no guarantees whatsoever, but their willingness to add another key cog in Carmelo Anthony was rather inspiring for George, counting with a front office that could be aggressive in pursuit of an NBA championship.

That factor may prove enough to keep him from jumping back into his hometown of Los Angeles.
