Tony Allen has developed into one of the best defenders in the NBA. After winning a championship with the Boston Celtics in 2008, Allen has built a reputation for being a lock-down defender that can stop most of the league's best players. Even at 36 years years old, Allen is still one of the best perimeter defenders in the league, and he is drawing interest from many teams.

On Feb. 1, the New Orleans Pelicans traded Allen to the Chicago Bulls to acquire Nikola Mirotic. Obviously, Allen is worth nothing to the Bulls in regard to their long-term future. The Bulls are rebuilding and could ship Allen to get a quality player or a draft pick. Hence, Allen may not stay in Chicago very long.

In other news, the Oklahoma City Thunder lost their best defender, Andre Roberson, who suffered a torn patella tendon in January. The Thunder are undeniably going to suffer without Roberson's defensive prowess, so they should look for a temporary replacement before the trade deadline. It appears that the Thunder have their eyes on Allen, now that Roberson will be out for the season, per the SiriusXM NBA Radio.

“One name I'd keep an eye on that could sort of be a proxy for Andre Roberson, is Tony Allen… He's a guy that can give them some of that defensive grit and toughness that they loose”

A trade for Allen would be realistic for the Thunder, who are trying to compete for a title this year. If the Thunder are willing to part with a player or draft pick, Allen just may be the newest player to suit up alongside Russell Westbrook, Paul George, and Carmelo Anthony.
