After an offseason full of trade rumors, the Oklahoma City Thunder emerged as the destination for Carmelo Anthony. In exchange, the New York Knicks received Enes Kanter, Doug McDermott, and a 2018 second round draft pick via the Chicago Bulls.

With Anthony forming a Big Three with Russell Westbrook and Paul George, they are close to making another move. According to Shams Charania of The Vertical, the Thunder are finalizing a deal with Trey Burke:

Burke, the former ninth overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, is set to play for his third team in five seasons. Despite a strong rookie season with the Utah Jazz, his minutes have steadily declined and he only averaged 5.0 points and 1.8 assists this past season with the Washington Wizards.

With some depth behind Westbrook, there is great optimism in Oklahoma City. In one year, the Thunder have essentially replaced Kevin Durant with Anthony and George while only trading away Kanter, McDermott, Victor Oladipo, and Domantas Sabonis.

As all three players can become unrestricted free agents following the 2017-18 NBA season, it will be interesting to see how quickly they gel and if they ultimately want to remain with the Thunder. Anthony takes on his former team in the season opener on Oct. 19.
