The Oklahoma City Thunder have a major offseason ahead of them, and one that could drastically change the direction of the franchise. Paul George, who the Thunder traded for last summer giving up Victor Oladipo and Domantas Sabonis, has the option of leaving the organization via free agency starting July, and many already have him as as lock to sign with the home-town Los Angeles Lakers.

According to Dean Blevins of New 9 in Oklahoma City, he was told that George's agent is telling people within the NBA that his client intends to re-sign with the Thunder this summer.

Allegedly, apparently, Paul George plans to stay with the Thunder. I know. It’s not what people believe. But in separate conversations, I’m told P.G.’s agent has told people associated with the NBA that P.G. believes the injury loss of Andre Roberson was huge and he’s staying. Disclaimer, though: Believing everything that agents allegedly say can be dangerous to your health.

Paul George could certainly return to the Thunder this summer and no one would be overly surprised, but to assume that George's return hinges on the fact that he believes Andre Roberson would've made a significant difference had he been healthy might be a bit of a stretch. Roberson was easily the Thunder's best defender, but he was a massive liability on the offensive end.

George finished the season with the Thunder averaging 21.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 2.0 steals, and 3.1 three-pointers per game on 43 percent shooting from the field and 40 percent shooting from beyond the arc. His team was ousted by the surprising Utah Jazz in the first round of the playoffs.

We'll see what decision George comes to once free agency begins on July 1st.
