The Phoenix Suns made a big splash on Monday by working out a trade to acquire Oklahoma City Thunder star point guard Chris Paul.

After the trade of guard Dennis Schroder to the Los Angeles Lakers, this CP3 blockbuster indicates that the franchise has entered a rebuilding period, which could mean more moves to acquire young talent and draft assets.

Another veteran who could be on his way out is center Steven Adams:

Paul’s departure from Oklahoma City will also likely affect the decision of Danilo Gallinari, who is a free agent. Gallo will likely be signing elsewhere this offseason.

Adams, who was selected by the Thunder with the 12th overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, has spent his entire seven-year career in Oklahoma City. Last season, the big man from New Zealand played 63 games for the Thunder, averaging 10.9 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.1 blocks while shooting 59.2% from the field.

The big man’s numbers last season went gone down from recent years, but he is still expected to generate interest from different teams around the league. However, it remains to be seen how many teams will be interested in acquiring his services, and which players and assets they are willing to give up to get him. The Thunder will surely be looking for more young talent and draft picks.

Adams is set to make over $27 million in the last year of his contract.
