The Nike Jordan Brand just accomplished what the Oklahoma City Thunder have yet to do — sign Russell Westbrook to an extension deal.

According to Nick DePaula of ESPN, Westbrook has just agreed with Jordan’s sports apparel brand to be an athlete endorser of the sports outfitter for 10 more years. While the exact amount of the deal is yet to be revealed, it’s expected to be the priciest among all Jordan endorsers.

Russell Westbrook, the NBA's reigning Most Valuable Player, will look to continue to establish himself as one of the league's top global superstars, inking a 10-year extension with Nike's Jordan Brand that will be the most lucrative total endorsement deal for a Jordan athlete to date, according to industry sources.

Russell Westbrook originally had a five-year deal with the company in 2013, and with its expiration up for next year, the brand perhaps decided that now’s the best time to sign the history-making point guard to a long-term contract. At 28-years-old, Westbrook is just hitting his prime years, making it very timely for the Jordan Brand to lock down the UCLA product. His numbers may regress a bit this coming season with the arrival of Paul George to the team, but Westbrook could see his Thunder go deeper in the playoffs for the same reason.

The reining MVP is coming off a dominant effort in the 2016-17 NBA season in which he averaged a triple-double with 31.6 points, 10.4 assists, and 10.7 rebounds across 81 total games.
