As good as Andre Roberson is on defense, the same cannot be said about his free throw shooting. He is coming off averaging his worst percentage from that distance last year, and has not shown a lot of improvement on it to start this season. He is only converting on 50 percent so far, including back-to-back airballs just last week.

During the third quarter of the Oklahoma City Thunder and Milwaukee Bucks game on Tuesday, fans inside the BMO Harris Bradley Center heckled the 25-year-old Colorado product when he made his way to the foul line to shoot two free throws. They chanted “airball” to try and get him to miss badly again, but Andre Roberson surprised many when he made both attempts. He fired back at the crowd by blowing kisses, and acknowledging their “love” for him.

When asked about what made him decide to do the gesture, Roberson said he only wanted to “give some sugar back” to them. He also added that he didn’t really hear their chants as he was only focused on the job at hand that time.

It will be very interesting to see if he can sustain the success he had with his free throws on the night. Should Roberson be able to build on the momentum he now has, it will be a huge boost to the Thunder, as he will no longer be a liability on the court, as he could be relied upon to make free throws, and not be fouled intentionally anymore.
