The Oklahoma City Thunder had their way on Thursday night with the Phoenix Suns. Russell Westbrook led the way putting up 27 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists on the way to a 115-87 victory.

With the game well in hand it let some of the subs, like Nick Collison some run in the game. He is a favorite with the Thunder players and fans, and that was pretty clear after he had a “big” throwdown late in the game.

He had a wide open drive to the basket and with his three inch vertical he was able to throw down a one-handed slam. The bench reacted exactly how you would expect them to, for a teammate as good as Collison.

For Collison, is days in the NBA are winding down, and he has already announced he will be retiring after the season.  He has been an end of the bench guy this season appearing in only ten games and averaging 1.9 points and 1.6 rebounds.

Collison started his career with the Seattle SuperSonics after being the 12th pick out of the University of Kansas in the 2004 draft.

He moved with the team to Oklahoma City in 2008 and has always been a good role player for the team. He might have never lived up to the expectations that come with being such a high draft pick, but he has always been a high character guy that does the right thing on and off the court.

The best season for Collison was his last in Seattle where He averaged 9.8 points and 9.4 points during the 2007-08 season.

If this is one of the last highlights that we get from Collison as the season ends winds down, it will be a great memory for a guy who made the NBA a better game.
