Sometimes, trash-talking extends off the court. Instead of players talking smack to one another, fans take a shot at the athletes. And as per any word tussle, things can get out of hand.

Twitter user cjzero posted a clip of a Jazz fan apparently talking trash to Oklahoma City Thunder's Russell Westbrook as he made his way to the locker room. As observed in the video below, Westbrook fired back:

We're all curious to know what exactly did the fan say that caught Westbrook's attention. This is not the first time that such an incident happened.

A fan once said a few harsh words to LeBron James a few years back. James simply gave the fan an intense stare. Arena staff and security were the ones who reprimanded the fan.

But then again, the two players are different. James, despite his colossal stature, is relatively a calm and collected figure. Westbrook, who possesses almost the same physicality, is much more relentless — just like the way he plays on the court.

In recent memory, this is the second time that Westbrook has gone face-to-face with an NBA fan. Sometime in February, he shoved a fan who walked on the court after their loss to the Denver Nuggets. Below is the clip per ESPN:

On the incident, Westbrook said:

“You gotta be able to protect the players, man,” he said. “The fans are obviously there to enjoy the game, but they can't come onto the floor. That's totally unacceptable.

“They'll look at it and figure out what's the best way to deal with it, but to me, that's just totally unacceptable.
