There is no doubt that Russell Westbrook is a fierce competitor on the court, never shy to be engaged in trash-talking regardless of who he goes up against. He proved just that on Sunday when the Oklahoma City Thunder faced the Dallas Mavericks, as he was involved in a war of words with Salah Mejri even after the whistle has been blown. The Tunisian big man approached the reigning MVP, and their fiery exchange carried on from that point on.

When Mejri missed a free throw attempt, Westbrook was clearly not done yet, and jawed at the Mavs big man from the sidelines, to try and get into his head.

Fortunately for both players, neither of them was called for a technical foul, or even ejected from the game. Should that have been the case, they could both possibly face a sanction from the league office, depending on what they told each other or the referees.

The Thunder came out with the victory on the night in convincing fashion, 112-99. Paul George led the team with 37 points, eight rebounds, five assists, and two steals, while Russell Westbrook chipped in 27 points, six rebounds, five assists, and three steals of his own. It was their second consecutive win, and will look to extend their streak further on Wednesday against the Chicago Bulls. The Mavs, current owners of the worst record in the league at 2-12, lost their second straight game.
