Miguel Cabrera once again made history at Comerica Park as he reached 3,000 career hits during the Detroit Tigers’ 13-0 blowout win against the Colorado Rockies on Saturday.

From an individual standpoint, Cabrera does not have much to prove at this stage in his career. The veteran slugger is also in the 500 home runs club and is a sure lock to one day be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. However, he is eyeing team success with the Tigers.

During his post-game press conference, Cabrera closed with a simple five-word message.

“See you in the playoffs,” Cabrera said.

It has been quite a while since Cabrera last featured in the playoffs with the Tigers. Their last playoff appearance came back in the 2014 season when they were swept by the Baltimore Orioles in the ALDS. More so, they have not won a postseason series since their dramatic ALDS victory over the Oakland Athletics in the season prior.

The Tigers did make multiple notable moves during free agency to give the team a fighting chance at a return to playing pivotal games in October, which included hauling in Javier Baez and Eduardo Rodriguez.

Cabrera has opened up before that he would feel “more proud” if the Tigers can win a World Series title in his final two years with the team. While the Tigers are not among the heavy favorites to win the American League this season, one sure can not count them out as playoff contenders.
