Former NFL quarterback and broadcaster Tim Tebow delivered his take on who he thinks will come out on top of the ongoing race for the coveted Heisman Trophy honor this season. A former Heisman winner himself, Tebow picked Alabama Crimson Tide playmaker Mac Jones over Clemson Tigers gunslinger Trevor Lawrence as his favorite to win the prestigious award.

“I think he's right up there,” Tebow said of Lawrence. “I probably have him at 1b right now, right behind Mac Jones. I think if you look at what Mac Jones has done, I think he has the best deep ball in the country and I think he probably has a superior deep ball to even Tua. I think Tua was a more pure passer, but Mac has been unbelievable, lights out down the field and he's got some receivers that can go get it as well. I think Trevor is right there. I think if he comes back and he's able to win the ACC championship and beat Notre Dame again, I think he could make a push at it. But I'd probably have him at 1b, right behind Mac Jones.”

Mac Jones turned out to be a revelation in the 2020 season as he took over the reins from former QB1 Tua Tagovailoa who now plays for the Miami Dolphins in the NFL. The junior quarterback is on fire as of late after tallying 2,196 passing yards and 16 scored touchdowns for a 95.2 QB rating which ranks second in college football.

His stellar performance under center has also led to team success as the No.2 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide recently came off a lopsided 41-0 victory against the Mississippi State Bulldogs en route to preserving their immaculate 6-0 record. They are slated to face the reigning national champion LSU Tigers next come November 14.

With Mac Jones looking to continue on his impressive showing, expect him to make an even stronger case for his candidacy to win the Heisman Trophy by the end of the season.
