With so many talented young players, the Minnesota Timberwolves are poised for a breakout season and are looking for the final piece that will propel them into the playoffs and beyond. According to ESPN’s Marc Stein, they may look no further than Chicago.

Apparently, the Timberwolves are willing to give up the No. 5 overall pick in this years draft to get Chicago Bulls’ star shooting guard, Jimmy Butler.

While it is unclear whether the Bulls would be willing to trade away Butler, according to Stein, they are open to all possible trade scenarios from other teams. If they were interested in a top lottery pick, there’s no doubt they would want much more than just the pick for the guy who is current best player.

On the Timberwolves part, the move makes sense. A trade for Butler would reunite him with Minnesota’s new head coach and former Bulls’ head coach, Tom Thibodeau. In his five years with the Bulls, Thibodeau made helped lead his team to five consecutive playoffs, including one Eastern Conference Finals.

According to Butler, he doesn’t want to be anywhere but Chicago.

“That's why I'm here,” Butler told ESPN.com. “I don't plan on going anywhere. I can't control what everybody else does. I know that this is the city that I love, Chicago. And I want to wear that jersey. I want to wear that name on the front, and I wear it proudly. All I got to do is continue to control what I can control. That's try to help this team win games.”

Butler averaged a career-high 20.9 points on 45.4 percent shooting, 5.3 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 1.6 steals last season, leading the Bulls with 9.1 win shares. However, Butler also dealt with a couple injuries throughout the season, missing 15 games due to injury. We'll see if the Bulls have any interest, but if it does happen, the Timberwolves would quickly become one of the more exciting teams to look out for.
