The Minnesota Timberwolves franchise is finally getting a new set of owners. It's not going to be Wolves legend Kevin Garnett, though, but instead, former New York Yankees great Alex Rodriguez is expected to step in as the team's new owner.

This report comes NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN:

The transfer of ownership of the Timberwolves franchise has been a long drawn out and rather controversial process. Current owner Glen Taylor, who has been the owner of the team since he purchased it in 1994, was recently involved in a war of words against a Wolves legend in Kevin Garnett. According to KG, Taylor saw to it that his group's bid to purchase the team would fail. Taylor fired back saying that Garnett was never in the picture in the first place.

That appears to be all water under the bridge now (although that feud isn't going to end anytime soon) with news emerging about the Timberwolves' new incoming owners. While it may not be KG, an equally renowned sports personality is soon taking over the helm in Alex Rodriguez. The 45-year-old is an all-time great in the sport of baseball, with arguably his most memorable stint coming with the mighty New York Yankees. A-Rod is reportedly part of a group spearheaded by former Walmart executive Marc Lore.

It is worth noting, however, that as the report indicates, Taylor is not giving up control just yet. He's going to be on board for two more years before turning over the team to Rodriguez and Co. in 2023. Whether or not this is a positive development is up for Timberwolves fans to decide.
