The Minnesota Timberwolves have won three straight to continue their climb in the West standings, but despite that, Anthony Edwards is not happy with how they are playing defensively.

Minnesota's defense has really dropped off in recent weeks. While they are still in the top half of the league when it comes to defense, their recent performances showed how they are lagging behind in that area. For Edwards, though, the reason for it is quite simple: the Timberwolves are getting cocky.

“I think we getting cocky… We definitely gotta fix that. We like 29th in defense. That's terrible… We actually got good defensive players, so we shouldn't be bad at all. I think it's just we getting too cocky,” Edwards shared, per Dane Moore of Bring Me The News.

So far this 2021-22 season, the Timberwolves rank 13 in defensive rating. However, in their last 10 games, they rank 25th–not the 29th that Anthony Edwards said but still just as worse given how well they were doing on that end early in the season.

For what it's worth, Minnesota went 7-3 during that span, so there's really no reason to panic for now. The Timberwolves have found ways to win despite their defensive struggles, which is definitely good to see.

But as Edwards said it, they need to fix it sooner rather than later. While they are confident about their offense, they cannot relax defensively since it can be their calling card when their shots are not falling. Furthermore, if they want to make the playoffs and actually complete, they must solidify their defense.

Of course, they also need to stop getting cocky and focus on the job,.
