Basketball fans have been dying to get the chance to see Anthony Edwards in the Slam Dunk Contest during the NBA's All-Star Weekend. The Minnesota Timberwolves budding star possesses elite jumping abilities and impressive power, making him one of the league's biggest walking highlight reels. With the right amount of showmanship and prop usage, he could easily take home the win in the competition.

Edwards, however, has no interest in joining the festivities. The Timberwolves guard told Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports that he would rather save the dunking for the games.

Edwards is no stranger to throwing it down on defenders' heads. His explosiveness made him worthy of being drafted first overall in the 2020 draft by the Timberwolves. He has put it to great use so far in his career. In just his second year in the league, Edwards came very close to being named an All-Star.

Edwards has been one of Minnesota's key players this season, averaging 21.9 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.5 assists and. 1.5 steals per game while shooting 43.5 percent from the field and 35.5 percent from deep. His pairing with Karl-Anthony Towns drives the team's offense. Although defense is not his most-touted skill, his ability to collect steals is helpful to the cause.

While Obi Toppin, Jalen Green, Cole Anthony and Juan Toscano-Anderson compete in the dunk contest, Edwards will let his legs recharge so he can bring out some ferocious dunks down the homestretch of the Timberwolves' regular season and possibly the playoffs.
