The Minnesota Timberwolves and the Memphis Grizzlies have played arguably the most compelling playoff series thus far. Entering Tuesday night's pivotal Game 5, the series was tied at two wins a piece. Both the Timberwolves and Grizzlies have each won on the road already. During Game 5, Timberwolves rising star Anthony Edwards accomplished something that no one ever has in franchise history.

Edwards surpassed Stephon Marbury for the most points in Minnesota Timberwolves playoff history in their first five games.

Edwards and the Timberwolves are looking to surprise the NBA with a massive first-round upset of the Memphis Grizzlies. Memphis was one of the hotter picks to reach the NBA Finals from the western conference. Meanwhile, the Timberwolves were considered an after-thought.

Minnesota has only even got past the first round of the playoffs once. Back during the 2003-2004 season, the Timberwolves got all the way to the Western Conference Finals. They ultimately lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in six games. That TWolves team was led by Hall of Fame big man Kevin Garnett.

Garnett is easily considered the greatest player in Timberwolves franchise history. He leads Minnesota all-time in points, rebounds, assists, blocks, steals, games played and free throws made. That 2003-2004 season was the one where people believed they could have won an NBA Championship.

Now, it's Edwards that is hoping he can lift the franchise. Karl-Anthony Towns has become a pre-eminent force for Minnesota. But he has been wildly inconsistent in the playoffs thus far. Meanwhile, Edwards is on a rocket trajectory that is only proven by his performance again Tuesday.
