D'Angelo Russell is certainly making up for lost time after returning from a lengthy absence for the Minnesota Timberwolves. D'Lo once again showcased the never-melting ice on his veins, giving the Wolves a fighting chance against the Boston Celtics at TD Garden on Friday.

With the Timberwolves trailing big near the end of regulation, Russell went on a scoring rampage putting up 10 points in the final two minutes. Down by three with under 20 ticks remaining, Minny needed a heroic 3-pointer to get the score even.

The one-time All-Star took matters into his own hands, pulling up for a contested 3-pointer right over the outstretched arms of Grant Williams. Luckily for the Wolves, the bank was still open, as D'Lo forced overtime with that gutsy shot.

Russell did not even use Karl-Anthony Towns' screen and made the clutch bucket anyway.

Unfortunately for Russell and the Timberwolves, they got outscored in the extra period, 21-12, and still lost the game, 145-136. The 25-year-old playmaker had another strong outing in his third game back for the Wolves, recording 24 points on 9-of17 shooting from the floor and 3-of-9 from deep, along with seven assists and four rebounds in 28 minutes.

Minnesota, meanwhile, hasn't had much reason to celebrate these days, dropping to a Western Conference-worst 13-40 slate after yet another stinging loss. Still, seeing D'Lo back in action is an encouraging sign for the cellar-dwelling team.
