The Minnesota Timberwolves are… confusing, to say the least. One day, they'll be beating teams like the Los Angeles Lakers in astonishing fashion. The next game day, they'll sleepwalk against a lowly team and get absolutely smashed in the process. Such is the life of a Timberwolves fan.

After another huge blowout win, this time against the Memphis Grizzlies, Timberwolves point guard D'Angelo Russell had a bold declaration. (via Jon Krawczynski)

“Russell: ‘I think we can beat any team. I'll take our 5 against any 5. I'll take our bench against any bench. I'll take our coach over any coach.'”

Fans might think that D'Angelo Russell is crazy to say this. You can kind of understand why he'd say this, though: the Timberwolves are coming off of an astronomical 43-point win over the Grizzlies. Russell, for his part, poured in 28 points, 5 assists, and 4 rebounds on 9 of 15 shooting from the field. It's the type of performance that will make any team feel good about themselves.

Now, is what Russell saying about the Timberwolves true? It's debatable at best. The ‘Wolves are incredibly talented: they have Russell and Karl-Anthony Towns as a deadly guard-big man duo. Anthony Edwards is  a budding star who has limitless potential to be anything the team wants. What this team lacks, though, is consistency and experience. Those two things come together as they play longer, though, so that's a good sign.

Despite Russell's seemingly outlandish claim, teams should still be on their guard when facing the Timberwolves. Because if you get caught sleeping, the Wolves will pounce on you and tear you apart.
