D'Angelo Russell and Karl-Anthony Towns may face steep odds in guiding the Minnesota Timberwolves to the playoffs in the rugged Western Conference this season, but that won't stop the two All-Stars from enjoying being around one another.

Russell, whom the Timberwolves acquired from the Golden State Warriors last season at the trade deadline, had some fun with Towns on Wednesday.

It's great to see Karl-Anthony Towns smiling given everything he's been through in 2020. The Timberwolves big man tragically lost his mom due to COVID-19 and a few others close to him.

D'Angelo Russell, who is close friends with KAT, will certainly be there for his friend all season long, both on and off the basketball court.

The Timberwolves selected Anthony Edwards out of Georgia with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. The team now has a Big 3 of Towns, Russell and Edwards, with Ricky Rubio, Malik Beasley, Jarrett Culver and Josh Okogie serving as the supporting cast for head coach Ryan Saunders. Rubio reunites with the Timberwolves after three seasons apart. Beasley was just handed a big contract worth north of $60 million over four years.

Before the 2019-20 season was suspended due to COVID-19, Towns averaged 26.5 points and 10.8 rebounds per game for the Timberwolves. Russell, meanwhile, put up 23.1 points and 6.3 dimes with the Warriors and Wolves.

Minnesota's front office is looking forward to seeing what Towns and Russell can do together as teammates for a full season. The Timberwolves may not make the playoffs, but the team should be fun to watch.
