Timberwolves’ D’Angelo Russell’s NSFW quote of the year after big game vs. Bulls

Timberwolves, D'Angelo Russell

It has been a trying season for D’Angelo Russell and the Minnesota Timberwolves. But they had reason to celebrate Sunday night after a win over the Chicago Bulls.

The victory snapped a two-game skid after a couple of narrow defeats at the hands of the Indiana Pacers and Boston Celtics, respectively.

Russell, who scored 27 points in the win, was asked what led to his success. He responded with a phrase that could easily make for the quote of the year in the NBA thus far.

The 25-year-old was brilliant coming off the bench for the Timberwolves, shooting 9-for-13 from the field and consistently putting himself in positions to score in the midrange.

It was the sort of performance to remind T-wolves fans why the team acquired D-Lo in the first place, in spite of the woeful campaign Minnesota is having. For Russell, it was a bit of vindication.

Russell missed close to two months after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery. He returned on April 5, but was pretty inefficient in his first couple games back. The former No. 2 overall pick just needed to get his feet under him, apparently.

Russell scored 26 points on 10-for-18 shooting in the overtime loss to the Celtics, also contributing eight assists. He was that much more efficient against the Bulls, recording his second-highest individual Game Score, per Basketball Reference.

This season might as well be chalked up as a lost cause for the Timberwolves. But Russell, at least for now, still seems to be a big piece in the team’s future. Minnesota fans should be delighted in seeing his progression.
