Derrick Rose is interested in re-signing with the Minnesota Timberwolves after the season ends despite the firing of Tom Thibodeau.

Thibodeau was the only person in the NBA last season who took a chance on Rose when the former MVP was traded by the Cleveland Cavaliers and waived by the Utah Jazz.

Derrick Rose says Thibodeau means a lot to him because he gave him another shot in the NBA, but that he's also very thankful to the Minnesota organization for listening to him.

Derrick Rose will become an unrestricted free agent after this season ends. He signed a one-year deal worth the vet minimum with Minnesota last summer. Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor said back in December he's appreciative of Rose and the type of person he is off the court.

In 32 games this season, Rose is averaging 18.9 points, 2.8 rebounds and 4.8 assists per contest while shooting 48.6 percent from the field, 46.2 percent from beyond the arc and 83.8 percent from the free-throw line.

There's a slight chance Derrick Rose may have played his way into a bigger contract next offseason. Minnesota has Jeff Teague and Tyus Jones on the roster as well, so they might not want to overpay to keep D-Rose.

The Timberwolves are 19-21 on the season, good for 11th place in the Western Conference.
