With reports recently emerging of the Minnesota Timberwolves signing Gersson Rosas as their new president for basketball operations, the team has taken a huge step towards marking the new chapter of their organization.

According to Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic, Rosas became the frontrunner for the job thanks to a glowing recommendation from none other than Kevin McHale.

Rosas stood out because of the strong recommendations made by a number of people the Timberwolves contacted during the vetting process, including former Timberwolves GM and coach Kevin McHale, who worked with Rosas in Houston and spoke glowingly on his behalf, sources said.

Rosas is most known for his work with the Houston Rockets where he would spend over a decade, as he helped transition the team into a legitimate championship contender. Alongside general manager Daryl Morey and head coach Mike D'Antoni, Rosas played a pivotal role in making the Rockets who they are today.

The Timberwolves must have been left quite impressed by Rosas following their interview with him, as the former Rockets team executive leapfrogged a number of notable names to top the team's shortlist for their next president.

Rosas won out over a field that included ESPN analyst Chauncey Billups, Denver Nuggets assistant GM Calvin Booth and Brooklyn Nets assistant GM Trajan Langdon. All four interviewed in the last week, and the Wolves wanted to move as quickly as possible to get a new leader in place before the draft lottery and combine in the middle of this month.

As the report indicates, Minnesota were quite pressed with time, as they wanted to settle their front office issues at the soonest. The past season did not prove to be a very memorable one for the team, and it was definitely in their best interest to move forward, and now, with Rosas at the helm.
